Winter calls for curling up on the couch to watch Christmas movies with a nice, warm cup of hot cocoa! This hot cocoa recipe is rich and creamy. It is simple to make, which is perfect for those nights you want to be curled up on the couch under a blanket.
Recipe
Begin by gathering everything you need: milk, heavy cream, semi-sweet chocolate chips, vanilla, sugar, whipped cream, and any candies you like to top.

Add 2 cups of milk, 2 cups of heavy cream, at least 1 cup of chocolate chips (I use the whole bag), a splash of vanilla, and 1 teaspoon sugar to a medium sized pot.

Mix until the chocolate chips are melted and everything is well combined.

Whipped Cream
You can use a Reddi-Whip can or you can make your own!
Making whipped cream is so easy! I can’t believe more people don’t do it!
- Place your mixer bowl and whisk attachment in the freezer for at least 15 to 30 minutes (this helps it become whipped cream faster, but you do not have to do this)
- Dump heavy cream into the mixing bowl. You can use a large carton or small carton.
- Cover mixer with a towel (this will get messy). Put mixer on high speed.
- Peek on the bowl from time to time. When you see small peaks form, it’s ready!
- Add sugar and vanilla to taste. Mix well and it is ready to use!

Toppings
If you are using peppermints, place them in a sandwich bag to be crushed. You can use candy canes or peppermint candies. Use a rolling pin to crush the candies. I find it easiest to beat the bag rather than roll the rolling pin.
You can use marshmallows, sprinkles, caramel, or chocolate syrup to top. Get creative and have fun!
You are now ready to enjoy your hot cocoa and cozy up on the couch to watch a Christmas movie.
